PRESS RELEASE FROM VINN VINN VERDEN
Oslo, Norway – August 11, 2025 – As Norway prepares for another election season, the question “Who will you vote for, and why?” is taking centre stage in homes, workplaces, and public spaces. Beyond party slogans and campaign promises, the decision at the ballot box shapes how the country addresses urgent, interconnected challenges—from climate change and inequality to global conflict.
On August 21, 2025, Vinn Vinn Verden will host a public event at Eidsvolls plass, creating a space for open dialogue, informed debate, and collaborative action. The gathering will bring together political leaders, activists, and citizens to explore “win-win” solutions that protect both people and the planet.
Featured Speakers and Hosts
- Greta Thunberg, internationally recognized climate activist, will address the gathering with her powerful voice for environmental justice.
- Petter Gulli will serve as the event’s master of ceremonies, guiding conversations and ensuring the event flows engagingly and coherently.
Political representatives from Venstre, MDG, and SV, together with others will frame a critical conversation: how leadership anchored in empathy, sustainability, and accountability can redefine our civic landscape.
Norway is recognised for a strong democratic tradition rooted in participation and social justice. According to Statistics Norway (SSB), immigrants make up 17.3% of the population, with an additional 4.1% being Norwegian born with immigrant parents. Only 6% have a refugee background, far from the “influx” often portrayed in political rhetoric. This diversity is a source of cultural richness, economic strength, and long-term sustainability.
The Issues at Stake
The event will encourage voters to examine candidates’ policies through two key lenses:
- Global Responsibility – Recognising that local decisions have global consequences. For example, According to SSB (2022), the average person in Norway spends about 35% of their budget on housing and utilities, 14% on transport, and 12% on food. Meanwhile, VG’s Matbørs reports a 33% increase in family food costs in recent years. These costs aren’t just financial, they’re environmental and social. Additionally, Norway is well-placed to meet the Sustainable Development Goals through transparent, sustainable food systems. But to do so, we need laws that address unsustainable consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, and value creation in the food chain. It’s not just about what we eat, it’s about the systems we support with our money and our votes.
- Compassionate Leadership – Evaluating internal policies on diversity and inclusion, and external policies on ethical investments, such as the Government Pension Fund Global (oil fund). Current debates include whether investments linked to conflict zones, such as in Israel during the ongoing Gaza crisis, align with Norway’s human rights commitments.
